HOUSTON, May 25, 2006 - A deep understanding of community needs was the driver in the city of Burley, Idaho's unanimous approval of a 10-year, $5.6 million contract for wastewater services with Veolia Water North America - West LLC (Veolia Water).

The public-private partnership calls for Veolia Water to manage the city's $29 million, 2-million-gallon-per-day (MGD) municipal wastewater treatment facility when it comes online in October 2006. In the interim, Veolia Water will assist with startup activities to ensure reliable, long-term performance of the plant that will serve approximately 10,000 people. Additionally, the company will manage the city's 2.3-MGD industrial wastewater treatment plant and provide oversight of the industrial pretreatment program.
