▁▁▁
Haworth, N.J. – Veolia today completed its acquisition of the Manalapan Township Water System, furthering the expansion of its drinking water and wastewater services across the state. This acquisition demonstrates Veolia's unwavering dedication to providing environmental security to communities by making essential investments in infrastructure and system modernization for dependable, superior services.
Township officials and Veolia representatives participated in a ceremony at the Manalapan Township Municipal Complex to commemorate the acquisition.
The newly acquired water system serves approximately 3,500 homes and businesses in the township. Manalapan customers can expect enhanced operational efficiency, improved water quality monitoring, attentive customer service and significant infrastructure investments to ensure long-term system reliability. Planned projects include:
- Vital water main and valve replacements
- Construction of a new state-of-the-art drinking water treatment facility with advanced treatment technologies
- Water storage tank restoration projects
Alan Weland, Regional President, Veolia Water New Jersey, said: “We are thrilled to officially welcome the Manalapan community into Veolia’s operation. In line with our GreenUp strategic program this acquisition represents a significant milestone in our commitment to providing exceptional water services and infrastructure improvements in the region. We thank the residents, the Township Committee and regulatory authorities for their support throughout this process. Our focus now shifts to implementing the critical infrastructure upgrades that will ensure reliable, high-quality water service"
The acquisition comes after a decisive referendum in November 2024, when 67% of Manalapan voters approved the sale of the system to Veolia. The company’s purchase of the system was approved September 10 by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.
Manalapan marks the company’s sixth acquisition in New Jersey since 2018. As communities grapple with aging infrastructure and tougher regulations, Veolia is the best solution — backed by expertise, experience and financial strength to deliver the essential infrastructure and water quality improvements residents deserve.
Eric Nelson, Manalapan Township Mayor, said: “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for our water infrastructure. Veolia's proven track record and commitment to excellence gives us confidence that our residents will benefit from enhanced service reliability and water quality improvements for years to come."
Veolia has been working to ensure a smooth transition for Manalapan customers. In the coming days, they will receive welcome packets with additional information in the mail. Information is also available on a dedicated webpage for Manalapan customers at http://mywater.veolia.us/manalapan
