SourceOne, a Veolia subsidiary, among top firms in annual "Commissioning Giants" ranking

Building commissioning, which uses technology to create greater efficiency in building construction or renovation, is becoming an increasingly attractive service across the country, and SourceOne, a subsidiary of Veolia North America, is among the top firms meeting this demand, according to Consulting-Specifying Engineer, a leading trade publication.

The magazine ranked SourceOne No. 14 in its annual list of “Commissioning Giants” for building commissioning revenue.

The magazine ranked the top 25 leading commissioning firms around the country for the most recent fiscal year in terms of commissioning-generated revenue. Building commissioning optimizes efficiency through technology and greater coordination in all phases of building operations.

SourceOne, which has offices in Boston and New York, reported $10.5 million in commissioning revenue in the previous fiscal year. This is the first year the company has participated in the ranking. SourceOne specializes in commissioning large scale mission-critical systems for social media and collocation mega centers such as Facebook, Amazon Web Services and Equinix.

"We're extremely proud to have achieved this ranking in our first year," said Bill Callan, SourceOne Senior Vice President and General Manager-New York. "It's a reflection of a diligent team effort and the work we are doing to enhance our position as a leader in mission-critical commissioning services."

Like SourceOne, most of the firms in the ranking are engineering consulting firms, while others are engineering/architecture firms or firms that focus exclusively on commissioning. The magazine reported that the average percentage of commissioning revenue for the ranked firms was 30 percent, with some earning 100 percent of their revenue from commissioning.
