Veolia Shines at Green Fair in Kansas City

Veolia Kansas City Operations Team

The fair, held on September 21, focused on green energy and how residents can save money through good environmental stewardship. In the midst of live local music, giveaways, and drawings, Veolia Kansas City stood out from the rest of the crowd in several ways: The team exhibited how district energy is one of the most economical and environmentally friendly options for real estate developers today. Plant mechanics, electricians, operators, and management also attended to share green energy expertise and advice with attendees.
Veolia representatives also gave tours allowing attendees to experience firsthand how steam and chilled water is produced and distributed to the downtown Kansas City district.

Also at the booth, Veolia showcased the environmentally sound disposal practices employed at the Ford assembly plant located in Claycomo, Mo. Veolia manages all of the industrial hazardous waste, general waste, and recycling generated at this nearby automotive plant, which builds the popular Ford F-150 pickup truck. Veolia Re-Source Solutions strives to dispose this waste in the most environmentally conscious way possible, while continuously improving service to the plant. The company’s Ford Rouge facility in Michigan recently achieved Zero Waste to Landfill through these innovative strategies.

“It was good to see two separate branches of Veolia coming together as one Veolia,” said Josh Jeffus, distribution mechanic for Veolia in Kansas City. “Veolia Energy and Veolia RSS are hoping to build a relationship in the Kansas City area to better serve its customers. This was the first in a line of many such events for the business.”

Participants who visited the Veolia booth left knowing the organization is proud to provide district energy to Kansas City and is dedicated to its mission of Resourcing the World.
