Hurricane Harvey Update

Port Arthur TX

Solidarity with South Texas and Louisiana

It’s been a difficult week for residents in Texas and Louisiana, with the greater Houston area being among the hardest hit areas as Hurricane Harvey made landfall. In addition to our approximately 1000 Gulf Coast employees, Veolia has a large number of customers and partners in this region who are dealing with the storm’s impact on their family’s safety and the condition of their homes, communities and business operations. Veolia is deploying additional management, technical and humanitarian support to assist the region, and our thoughts and prayers are with every individual and organization that has been affected by this devastating storm.

Current Operational Status

Despite the hardships in the Gulf Coast, we are proud to share that Veolia’s operational footprint has weathered the storm well, and we remain open for business to support the hazardous and regulated waste management and emergency response requirements of our customers.

Our incinerator in Port Arthur has remained operational during the storm, thanks to the extremely dedicated and selfless efforts of key and critical operations staff who remained at the plant during the storm. These are men and women who truly embody Veolia’s commitment to our customers and the environment, and we are so proud of their efforts over the past week.

The hazardous waste service center in Baytown, Texas, was closed during Harvey to protect the safety of our employees. Now that local roadways are clearing and it is safe for our people to navigate to work, we have reopened Baytown. Our field staff is already conducting scheduled pick-ups, and we are available to support our customers with their emergency requirements.
