Employees Across North America Celebrate Earth Day

Veolia teams from across North America gave back this Earth Day, volunteering in the communities where they work to help make the world a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable place to live. From Boston, to Winnipeg, to Rialto, here is a quick look at our commitment to the environment.

At Veolia North America’s headquarters a team of approximately 30 employees from Boston and Cambridge worked together to remove invasive species along the Charles River. By removing the invasive species, the team created space for native species to flourish- helping encourage biodiversity along the river. Click here to see more!

Additionally, employees donated pine tree saplings to local customers. The trees were a symbol of Veolia’s commitment to expanding natural forest areas and offsetting deforestation. The team also distributed reusable canvas totes for use at the grocery store.

New Jersey

The team in New Jersey celebrated Earth Day with a “take your child to work day,” and planted a butterfly-friendly wildflower garden on-site with the kids.

Our Mid-Atlantic team held a Household Hazardous Waste collection event for local employees, and collected approximately 2,000 pounds of waste materials. Employees also attended an Earth Day event at Thomas Jefferson University and customer sites, distributing seeds, bookmarks, and pens made from recycled materials. What’s more, this team donated Earth Day themed coloring books to local grade schools!

San Juan

On Friday, April 21, our employees in San Juan, Puerto Rico teamed up with two of our customers to co-host an educational Earth Day event. The event raised awareness about how to best use and preserve precious natural resource.

Employees, along with friends and families, participated in the Five Rivers Metro Parks River Clean Up in Miamisburg, Ohio. Though the team has participated in the clean-up for more than 25 years, this year they went to a new location and removed assorted plastic bottles, aluminum cans, trash, shoes and clothing.

The Indianapolis office turned the sky-bridge inside the building into a stress-busting nature station. Starting on Earth Day, the team loaded the bridge with various plants for employees to enjoy over lunch or during breaks.  Additionally, plant-themed coloring pages were provided for those passing through the space.

35 people from our Winnipeg team helped pick up trash and beautify the City of Winnipeg. Despite the snow and cold weather, turnout for the first cleanup event was a success, as the team collected nearly 2,000 pounds of wet garbage!

In Tulsa, district energy was our Earth Day theme. The team participated in the 2017 Enviro Expo downtown. The booth featured giveaways and information about sustainable energy solutions.

The employees in Henderson, Colorado celebrated Earth Day by cleaning up trash around the site, and cleaning up the loading dock area where drain trenches had filled in with mud. The team also planted a new tree on the east side of the Solvent Recycling facility!

Hundreds of people joined Veolia in Rialto, California for the 3rd annual Community Conservation Fair on Earth Day. The event, hosted by Veolia, the City of Rialto and a number of community partners, focused on water and conservation, wastewater treatment, and featured a series of interactive booths for children and adults.
