Barry Jordan Receives Leadership Award for Dedication to Hazardous Waste Industry

LOMBARD, Ill. – Barry Jordan, a national sales manager for Veolia ES Technical Solutions, L.L.C., the hazardous waste division of Veolia Environmental Services North America, has been named the 2010 recipient of the EI Digest Leadership Award. The award was presented at the annual EI Digest Gathering on September 22, 2010, in San Diego. The EI Digest Leadership Award is presented annually to an individual who has shown outstanding contributions to the hazardous waste management industry. In addition to Jordan’s award, two Veolia ES Technical Solutions facilities were also recognized at the ceremony with EI Digest industry compliance awards.
“I’m honored to have received this award from EI Digest,” said Jordan. “I’ve spent a long time in this industry and have seen great progress with regard to policy and operational changes to hazardous waste management. It’s been my pleasure to work with so many dedicated professionals over the years. And I thank EI Digest for this great tribute."
Cary Perket, president and CEO of The Envirobiz Group, publisher of EI Digest, noted that Jordan is the first non-executive to receive this prestigious industry award. “In the past, we’ve presented this award to Company CEOs, Presidents and/or Founders,” said Perket. “But there is no denying that Barry is deeply committed to hazardous waste management and protecting the environment, which is the very essence of this award. I am delighted to present this year’s Leadership Award to such a deserving individual.”
Jordan has over 30 years of experience in environmental services, playing a variety of roles from policy development to operations to sales, but has spent most of his career involved in water pollution control and hazardous waste programs. Jordan has managed policy development and projects for the United States Environmental Protection Agency and was involved in setting up the federal Superfund Program. He has worked on high profile projects including Love Canal, Times Beach, and the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
For the past ten years, Jordan has been involved with lighting and electronics recycling and is currently responsible for managing national sales for the Electronic Recycling Division of Veolia ES Technical Solutions.
Further, Veolia ES Technical Solutions was also recognized with two EI Digest industry compliance awards for its facilities in Henderson, CO and Menomonee Falls, WI. The facilities were named award recipients for having gone through an entire calendar year without any hazardous or TSCA violations.
