Veolia Environmental Services Awarded 10-year Contract with the New York City Department of Sanitation

LOMBARD, Ill. – Veolia ES Technical Solutions, LLC, the hazardous waste division of Veolia Environmental Services North America, has been awarded a contract with the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) to remove, handle and process electronic, lighting, mercury and medical sharp waste for the City of New York. The initial term of the contract, which commenced in December 2010, is for ten years, with two additional five-year extensions.

“We are pleased to announce this new contract and area of work for our electronics recycling division and are eager to continue to grow our relationship with the City of New York,” said John McShane, Branch Manager of Veolia ES Technical Solutions.
Veolia ES Technical Solutions will provide removal services for ballasts, batteries, electronic waste, mercury-containing equipment, mercury-containing lamps and sharps waste generated by city agency facilities throughout the five boroughs. The contract was issued to ensure that city agencies comply with recycling and environmental regulations.
Veolia ES Technical Solutions will be responsible for providing the labor, equipment, material and support to properly manage the waste. In addition, Veolia also built a custom online ordering portal where registered agency users can order and track site specific supplies and services purchased under the terms of the contract.
Details of the contract and negotiation were not disclosed.
