  • The implementation of eco-friendly innovations, such as Lutron lighting, Trion air, and GE water.
  • The use of low-toxic and natural cleaning products, which improve indoor air quality while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
  • The use of recycled paper in all clubs and in the corporate office.
  • The sale of organic clothing and eco-friendly re-usable water bottles in their shops.
"We are pleased that Equinox has chosen to partner with Veolia Energy to provide sustainable, thermal energy throughout their newest club," said James Newkirk, Vice-President & General Manager of Veolia Energy's Boston Operations."Our emissions reducing, district energy network provides an innovative solution to Equinox's needs; we pass on cost-savings, free up valuable space and help them meet their important sustainability goals. We are pleased to be taking care of their energy needs so that they can focus on taking care of their members."

District energy plays an integral role in Boston's infrastructure. The underground steam system owned, operated and maintained by Veolia Energy, totals about 22 miles in length and serves approximately 240 customers.By utilizing Veolia's steam throughout the facility, the winter peak electrical demand is effectively eliminated. In addition, the steam eradicates the need for boilers, eliminates another source point for air emissions, lessens in-house maintenance requirements and makes available valuable space that can be used for the club's core business.
