The purchase, which involves Community Energy Systems was formerly owned by Sempra Generation's Facilities Management Group that manages 30 million square feet of climate-controlled space and 77,000 tons of cooling capacity for office buildings, casinos, hotels, hospitals, condominiums and medical centers in southern California and Nevada, is expected to close in the second quarter of this year.

Based in Boston, Mass., TNAH is a privately-held company focused on Community Energy Systems and related energy investments. TNAH, operating as The Trigen Companies (Trigen), supplies electricity, steam and chilled water to sports complexes, commercial buildings, government buildings, hospitals, universities and residential complexes in New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Missouri and Oklahoma.

"Owning and operating Community Energy Systems is Trigen's only business, and as the largest owner of Community Energy Systems in North America, the acquisition of Sempra's Energy Facilities Management Group is consistent with our plan for continued expansion and adds to Trigen's geographical diversification," said Lance Ahearn, CEO of the Trigen Companies.

"The addition of operations in Los Angeles and Las Vegas complements Trigen's presence in the Northeast, Mid Atlantic and Midwest markets. Trigen welcomes our new employees in California and Nevada, and we look forward to providing them with the resources to deliver Trigen services to present and future customers in the Western part of the United States."

Sempra Generation's Facilities Management Group (FMG) includes about 100 employees. All employees working at FMG affected by the sale will be offered positions with Trigen.
The system being acquired by Trigen includes two major district energy plants in the downtown Los Angeles and Century City areas. These two plants provide heating and cooling services for several of the city's major office buildings, hotels, medical facilities and condominiums.

Individual heating and cooling facilities formerly managed by FMG include: major entertainment centers, theaters and commercial campuses in Los Angeles and a major resort hotel & casino in Las Vegas. Sempra Energy, based in San Diego, is a Fortune 500 energy services holding company.

The Trigen Companies are owned by Thermal North America Holdings LLC (TNAH). Based in Boston, TNAH is a private venture focused on investments in community energy systems and related energy investments. "The Trigen Companies" are Grays Ferry Cogeneration Partnership; Trenton Energy Corporation; Trigen-Baltimore Energy Corporation; Trigen-Boston Energy Corporation; Trigen Building Services Corporation; Trigen-Kansas City Energy Corporation; Trigen-St. Louis Energy Corporation; Trigen-Missouri Energy Corporation; Trigen-Oklahoma Energy Corporation and Trigen-Philadelphia Energy Corporation.
