Veolia continues to grow biomass expertise

Veolia has signed a contract with Takeei, a major local environmental services company, to operate two biomass power plants in northern Japan.

The two facilities, located in Hirakawa and Hanamaki, will produce 100GWh of electricity per year, roughly enough electricity to power 22,000 households. The wood used to fire the boilers at the plants will come from neighboring forestry industries, increasing the production of renewable energy and avoiding the emissions of more than 40,000 metric tons of CO2.
