Cranston and Smithfield, R.I. honored with NWPCA Awards

Rhode Island communities honored with Narragansett Water Pollution Control Association Awards


Through separate long-term O&M agreements, Veolia has supported the City of Cranston and the Town of Smithfield’s wastewater systems for over a quarter century.  At the recent Narragansett Water Pollution Control Association (NWPCA) awards on April 30th, Cranston received the "A. Joseph Mattera Award" for outstanding commitment to safety, “Most Efficient Large Advanced Treatment Facility Award” for outstanding performance in 2014 and John Ayotte, underground asset manager/ collections engineer at the Cranston wastewater treatment facility, received the "Collections System Operator of the Year Award" for outstanding contributions in advancing collection systems knowledge.  Highlighting its outstanding performance in 2014, the Town of Smithfield also received an award for the "Most Efficient Small Advanced Treatment Plant."  Congratulations to these communities, who have demonstrated a commitment to the environment, employee safety and achieving efficiencies.
