20,000 visitors get a behind-the-scenes look at wastewater treatment

Milwaukee’s Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility recently passed the 20,000 visitor milestone, following the arrival of 2,100 visitors during Doors Open Milwaukee. Tours of the facility included a thorough overview of how wastewater is treated,  a look at how Milorganite- an organic fertilizer- is produced from wastewater, a 50- by 70-foot maze and the possibility to spot the Peregrine Falcons who call the facility home.
