William “Bill” DiCroce Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Now leading Veolia North America’s Municipal and Commercial business, Bill DiCroce previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Veolia Energy North America, a January 2013 appointment following his successful role as the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He joined Veolia Energy North America in June 2008 as Senior Vice President - East Region.
Before joining Veolia, Bill was the President and Chief Operating Officer of NSTAR Electric and Gas Company's unregulated subsidiaries, which owned and operated private utilities (Medical Area Total Energy Plant, Inc.- MATEP), as well as other district energy and telecommunication businesses in the greater Boston area.
Bill began his career with General Electric at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, where he was certified as a nuclear power engineer within the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion program. Bill next entered the commercial nuclear power generation industry and held a succession of operational, managerial and executive positions within Boston Edison and the Entergy Corporation.
Bill earned a bachelor's degree in marine engineering at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and an M.B.A. at Boston University. At the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, he served on the undergraduate and advanced degree program's Advisory Council and was an adjunct professor for nuclear power technology.
Ed Pinero Senior Vice President Sustainability and Public Affairs Previously the Chief Sustainability Officer for Veolia Water North America, Ed leads sustainability efforts in Veolia’s North American zone and also serves as the North American liaison to the global public affairs team. He supports sustainability programs at company operations, facilitates relations with key stakeholders in regard to sustainability, as well as develops and implements sustainable programs and services for Veolia’s clients in North America.
Over his more than 30-year career, Ed has worked in the private sector, including as a consultant to many clients on sustainability, environment, and energy programs. He has also served in the public sector at both the state and Federal level addressing sustainability issues. This included serving as the White House Federal Environmental Executive for five years where he focused on developing and implementing sustainability policy and practices within the Federal government. Ed served in the Pennsylvania state government in sustainability and energy, including serving as State Energy Director.
He started his career as an oil and gas geologist with Mobil Oil Corporation. He has a bachelor’s degree in geology from the State University of New York and a master’s degree also in geology from Texas A&M University.
Jim Hughes General Manager, Mid-Atlantic Since joining Veolia in 1990 as an Environmental Specialist in Philadelphia, Jim has held key roles in operations and Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S), servicing customers and managing projects from the west to Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. In this capacity, Jim led and participated in various external and internal site audits for customers and facilities. In 2014, Jim was promoted to serve as General Manager for Veolia’s Mid-Atlantic branch operations covering Pennsylvania and New Jersey south through South Carolina.
Jim holds a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, and has completed extensive training in EH&S, including completion of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Authorized trainer program.
Michael V. Byrnes, P.E. Senior Vice President- Sales and Marketing, Chief Operating Officer- SourceOne In his role as Senior Vice President for the Municipal and Commercial business, Mike leads the Business Development and Sales teams as they support the development and transition of energy and municipal water and wastewater projects. Additionally, he serves as the Principal in Charge and Chief Operating Officer for Peer Performance Solutions offerings and the SourceOne business.
Prior to his current role, Mike served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of Veolia Energy North America’s subsidiary, SourceOne Inc. While in this position, Mike managed some of the most visible and successful distributed generation projects in the New York City metro area.
With more than 30 years of experience, Mike has worked with Trigen Energy Corporation, Dalkia North America, Con Edison and the U.S. Merchant Marine in both managerial and operational capacities. Through these roles, Mike’s energy engineering expertise has grown to include all aspects of distributed generation/power plant design, development and operation, combined heat and power projects and environmental permitting.
Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering & Nautical Science from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and an MBA from Long Island University.
Ted Lawson Director of Strategic Marketing & Corporate Accounts Ted is currently Director of Strategic Marketing & Corporate Accounts for Veolia Water Technologies Industrial Solutions business. During his 34 year career in the water treatment and environmental services industry, Ted has held a number of key roles including Sales Management, Corporate Sales, Product Management, Technical Marketing, and Strategic Planning.
Prior to joining Veolia, Ted spent 25 years with GE Water Technologies. Throughout his career, Ted has authored numerous TAPPI, NACE, IWC & CTI publications on topics related to the efficient use of steam and cooling system technologies. He has also has represented Veolia as a founding member of the US Business Council for Sustainable Development.
