Resourcing the World
Today we know that our planet's natural resources are limited and the world's demands are increasing. Veolia is resourcing the world - helping develop access to resources, preserving available resources and replenishing them.
In 2013, we started organizing our water, waste and energy businesses into one company spanning North America. Veolia’s transformation allows us to innovate and better serve our customers’ sustainability. This includes bundling services and technologies in water, energy and waste, as well as adopting and adapting solutions that have worked well in other parts of our global network.
Resourcing the world is not just about protecting the environment, but also regenerating it by developing sustainable access to resources while committing to their preservation and renewal.
FIVE WAYS VEOLIA IS RESOURCING THE WORLD
There are hundreds of ways Veolia is Resourcing the World. Here are just a few:
Producing energy by transforming naturally-occurring methane gas
We're working with our client to ensure that half of this wastewater plant’s energy comes from methane that occurs naturally in the wastewater process. >> Learn More
Removing pharmaceuticals in wastewater, using new technology
We're showing the successful removal of pharmaceuticals and phosphorous from wastewater. >> Learn More
Reducing greenhouse gasses by using “green steam”
We're helping reduce Baltimore’s total greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 47K tons per year – the equivalent of removing 8400 cars from the road, all through the use of "green steam.">> Learn More
Sustainably reusing excess methanol to help cities
We're helping provide recycled methanol to cities, saving money and reducing hazardous waste.>> Learn More
Recycling industrial chemicals to reduce environmental footprint
When potassium hydroxide is discarded by a refinery, it must be handled as hazardous waste. We work to ensure that discarding the material is not the only option available.>> Learn More
SUPPORTING AN INTERCONNECTED WORLD
Veolia's commitment to Resourcing the World
- Considering WASTE as a treasure and something to value - separating it when recycling, transforming it for production processes, and employing it as an energy source.
- Treating WATER to make it drinkable or usable, regardless of the level of pollution - distributing and retrieving water, treating it and reintroducing it into the “network,” as well as recharging ground water tables that run low and helping businesses optimize their consumption and use.
- Harnessing HEAT generated by the production process as a new source of sustainable energy - heating the premises of a facility or transforming it into electricity or cooled air, as well as re-treating a company’s wastewater onsite and using it for air-conditioning circuits or watering green spaces.
“Resourcing the world is more than just a tagline. It's who we are. It's also our future – reflecting our unique ability to support an interconnected world with limited resources and growing needs.” - Terry Mah, CEO & President, Veolia North America
