Gloucester, Lynn and Sturbridge, Mass. honored at Drinking Water Awards Day
Three of Veolia’s community partners recognized with a ‘Public Water Systems Award’ by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection
Though diverse in their size and scope, the public water systems in the cities of Gloucester
and the Town of Sturbridge
have each demonstrated their commitment to the quality treatment of our most precious resource: water. As the operations, maintenance and management (O&M)
partner to these communities, Veolia has helped these water systems achieve superior drinking water
quality, compliance and safety in 2014.
At this year’s annual May 5th Public Water Systems ceremony both the City of Lynn and the Town of Sturbridge were awarded a ‘Medium and Large Community’ award for water quality and compliance and the City of Gloucester received a ‘Recognition Award’ for the completion of recent infrastructure upgrades.
The City of Gloucester also hosted a ‘Rededication’ ceremony and tour at the West Gloucester Water Treatment Plant to commemorate the improvements, including treatment plants (including items such as filtration, chemical feed systems, electrical, SCADA systems and satellite operation systems), pumping stations, water storage facilities, a critical water supply dam, and key water mains. Congratulations to all our municipal partners for this exceptional achievement
With its recent completion of $35 million in infrastructure improvements, the City of Gloucester received a ‘Recognition Award’ acknowledging its commitment to maintaining high-quality drinking water and improving its public water system. The city also hosted a ‘Rededication’ ceremony and tour at the West Gloucester Water Treatment Plant commemorating the recently completed water system improvements, including treatment plants, pumping stations, water storage facilities, a critical water supply dam, and key water mains.
Underscoring its exceptional performance in 2014, Sturbridge was awarded with a ‘Medium and Large Community’ award, acknowledging the Town’s commitment to compliance and the quality of its public water system.
The City of Lynn was also awarded a ‘Medium and Large Community’ award for its excellent drinking water compliance record in the last year. “Since 1987, Veolia has served the city of Lynn, providing O&M services for its wastewater plant and water treatment plant,” said Dan O’Neill, executive director of the Lynn Water and Sewer Commission.
