To support these operations, Veolia is seeking a Lead Operator who operates equipment manually and through instrument panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units. The lead operator usually is the senior operator on shift.  This is a union represented position paying $29.95 per hour.

Veolia provides Operation, Maintenance and Management of the Lynn Water & Sewer Commission's Lynn, Massachusetts 25.8 MGD Regional Water Pollution Control Facility including sludge incineration and disposal. To support operations, Veolia is seeking an Environmental Manager who will be responsible for monitoring and providing environmental reporting and compliance support for the facility to include performance inspections, interpreting federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, researching , EPA, CAA, CWA, and other rules governing disposal, discharge, and environmental impact on the facility including state and  federal regulations pertinent to the facility’s on-site biosolids disposal operations.
  • BS in Environmental Science or related discipline desired
  • 1 to 5 years in the solid waste or wastewater industries or related work experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge in environmental compliance regulations/methodologies
  • Extensive knowledge in the following areas: OSHA, RCRA, EPA, MADEP, DOT

Wastewater Operator - 72827

In Fall River, MA, Veolia operates water facilities: a 30.9-MGD pure oxygen secondary-activated sludge wastewater treatment plant, 15-dry-to-per-day multiple hearth furnace, 14 pump stations and a regional collection system. In addition, Veolia conducts industrial pretreatment program analyses and river sampling, and performs collection system rehabilitation, CSO tunnel management and 5,000-dry-tons-per-year sludge incineration and disposal.

To support these operations, Veolia is seeking a wastewater Operator who will operate and maintain wastewater treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in water/wastewater treatment facility to purify water to meet permit and operational requirements.
  • Typically holds or is working toward a first level treatment certificate. Will consider candidates with stable work history and industry experience who are not certified but would be willing to obtain certification after obtaining position with Veolia.
  • Six months + experience in a related position and environment with knowledge of the methods, techniques, and practices of wastewater treatment.
  • Ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuge, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses and measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment.
  • Able to serve rotational 24 hour emergency on-call.

In Cranston, RI, Veolia operates the City’s wastewater system. We are seeking an Operator who will  operate and maintain sludge, de-watering treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in refinery/industrial facility to purify water to meet customer specifications. This is a 4pm to 12am shift with a rotating work schedule that includes weekends.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions). Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Some experience in a related position and environment preferred.
  • Able to learn and operate equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuge, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses and measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment.

Auxiliary Plant Operator-Kneeland-74673

At the Kneeland Street, Boston, facility, Veolia operates the steam facility with four boilers and can put out  1,275,000 lbs of steam per hour. Three of the units burn natural gas with some dual fuel capability for No. 6 oil (the low sulfur kind). One of the units burns No. 4 (or any mixture of No. 2 & 6) and therefore is likely only turned on when they really need it since oil is pricey these days. This is a year round facility and customers of the district heating system rely on it not only for steam heat in winter, but for hot water and air conditioning via adsorption chillers that use steam to make cold water. 

To support operations at this facility, Veolia is seeking an Auxiliary Plant Operator.

In Woonsocket, RI, Veolia seeks a Collections O&M Technician to perform field maintenance, inspection, installation or repairs areas such as system protection (line locates and inspections of the collection system), cleaning and CCTV pipe, SSES projects, and system flows, and inspecting and maintaining manholes, pipes and wet wells.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience using power, pneumatic, hydraulic, and hand tools; pressure gauges and precision measuring instruments.
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • CDL-Class B required
  • Vactor truck operation experience
  • Position involves travelling up to 50% of the time

Collections System Supervisor-74811

In Woonsocket, RI, Veolia provides operations, maintenance and management services for the city's wastewater collection system which includes 108 miles of collection lines that deliver wastewater flows from Woonsocket and North Smithfield, R.I.; and Blackstone and Bellingham, Mass., to the city's wastewater treatment plant.

To support operations, Veolia is seeking a Collections Supervisor who will manage employees in the maintenance of collection and distribution systems and pump stations.  Employees typically perform preventative maintenance on collection system tools and equipment and rehabilitate and repair sewer system infrastructure such as manholes, catch basins, sewer lines, etc.
  • Degree in related field such as Sanitary or Civil Engineering or Surveying or equivalent related experience. 
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment standards, regulations and federal, state and local laws and codes and international plumbing and sewer codes  
  • 5+ years in progressive experience within a wastewater treatment environment with knowledge of methods, principles and practices of operating, maintaining and repairing water equipment, instrumentation and associated systems following process control procedures
